Battery Disposal / Recycling

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Is there a eco-friendly way to dispose old batteries in Chiang Mai, especially rechargeables that contain heavy metals, or should I just throw it into the klong like my Thai neighbours?

Cheers, CMX

good question. my prior Honda battery is filled with magic jelly, and is used as a doorstop.

is that your way of saying you have a door charge for visitors? :):D

I dump all my old ones in a box, then give then to the garbos when it's full. They seem to love them, and must know where to get a scrap price on them.

nasty stuff, one would hope they dispose of the acids properly

I should have said rechargables and regular disposable batteries, and not automotive lead acid type. The battery shops will readily take your old lead acid batteries off your hands.

That's because they are worth about 700-900 Baht each.

Part of the X billion a year turnover of Wongpanich Recycling from what people throw away. Easy money.

:)
