Sending Money From Thailand To Europe

Featured Replies

Hello,

My name is George and I'm from Greece,

I've started a job in Thailand and I want to open a bank account. There are some things I want to clear-out.

Firstly, I want you to suggest me a bank which can provide me e-banking, so I can log-in from outside Thailand, view the balance and transfer money to my bank-account in Greece, Europe.

Secondly, if the above is difficult, I would like to know if there is any bank in Thailand which can provide me with an ATM-card which I can also use outside of Thailand. Especially in Europe. So this way I can use the ATM card in ATMs in Greece and withdraw money.

Thanks in advance and congrats for your great forum !

Sending money to outside Thailand is possible for example with the Bangkok Bank. However this still requires paperwork, and they can request it at any time, for example when you are abroad. In which case you would be stuck!

However pretty much all banks offer you debit cards with the visa electron logo. Theyh can be used anywhere in the world on ATM machines which are hooked up to the visa network.

Bangkok bank charges a 100 Baht fee per foreign transaction, not entirely sure on the exchange rate, but it looked quite reasonable...

The cards cost only a few hundred Baht.

Do not that they are debit cards and con only be used electronically. Meaning you can use at an ATM, or pay at a shop where they have a Visa POS machine.

You cannot use them for example as a guarantee when renting a car.

I think your best bet would be the Siam Commercial Bank.

Their call center staff speak very good English and e-mails are answered within one working day.

Contact them and ask if they can provide the services you need.

Thanks a lot guys. Your posts were very helpful. I've just contacted Siam Commercial Bank and waiting for their reply.

BKK bank will issue a visa card provided you deposit TWICE the limit of the card with them....

Would be most helpful if you could post your findings about this topic. I am due to visit my home country soon and have a SCB debit card with a mastercard logo on it. Would like to know if I can use this card to access my SCB account when in Australia.

I have tested my SCB mastercard debit card back in my (Finland) home. I withdraw one 20 euro note using ATM and i bought one ice cream..

No problems :)
