The site at

http://www.seasite.niu.edu:85/thai/maanii1/maaniireaders.htm has both readers and more. The Maani series is a great way to get started on reading.

Good luck

well seasite was the 'bad' (amateur) site I was referring to compared with http://www.learningthai.com/books/manee/ that only has the reader I version

and wondering if there was a good website for the second book

seasite is kinda crap and seems to be a website made in 2002

I have a Thai windows with a patch and when I come onto that site, I do not even see Thai characters properly, all mombo jombo ... kinda strange

hope someone has a better site to offer, otherwise, I will have no other choice thab to make one meself :) lol

I could always pay extra our Thai nanny to do the speaking part

Any volunteers to help to make the best and most professional FREE Thai learning website on this planet :D

The site comes through loud and clear for me......audio, text, etc. When I was doing the Maani series, I'd download the audio and use audacity (free software) to play the files over and over. Never a problem. I also used that site for the Mary Haas series.

I tried to find a copy of Maani in some of the old book stores in Udon. Everyone knew what I was talking about, but no one had the book. Maybe a library.

I seem to remember that site requires it's own special Thai font, which can be downloaded there.

I believe that these books NIU Manee Readers only existed in .pdf and online versions. These Manee Thai Readers, both I and II as shown on the NIU SEAsite are compilations put together by the staff at Northern Illinois University which contain lessons adapted from the original Manee Reader series that went from ป๑ to ป๖ and maybe higher. It is my understanding that the books shown on the Seasite webpage never existed in bound print form as far as I know.
