Getting To Krabi

Featured Replies

I'm going down to Railay for New Year and we are planning on taking the sleeper (I know everyone is going say "just fly" but we are already doing 3 other internal flights so wanted to try the train!) to Surat Thani and then the bus to Krabi.

I'm just wondering about the bus - does anyone know if you can get a VIP bus from Surat Thani to Krabi i.e with a/c and toilet?

Or, failing that, how much would a taxi to Krabi be?

Thanks

The bus from Surat to Krabi is A/C.

IIRC it does not have a toilet, but the ride is only 3 hours.

I would figure about 3,000 baht for a private taxi--but I haven't done it in a number of years.

The taxi would take about 2-2.5 hrs. depending on the driver, and he would drop you at your place in Krabi Town, or possibly Ao Nam Mao Pier, the Pier for long-tail boats to Railay Beach for that price.

For a few nights at Railay over New Years, I recommend the taxi.

BTW, many of the resorts there offer pickup service at various airports and the train station in Surat.
