Thai man uses a gun during assault and attempted abduction on Jomtien Beach

This is a story of jealousy and how it can often result in violence. Khun Somnook aged 26 works at the Mityon motorbike shop on the Tepprasit Road in Jomtien. On Monday afternoon, he was attending to a customer who had come to the shop by the name of Khun Ratirar aged 18. They spoke for a while and it appears that Khun Somnook took a fancy to his customer who left the shop after only 15 minutes. On Tuesday night, the lady and a male friend of hers were riding together on a motorbike along Jomtien Beach when they were approached by a man driving behind them who ordered them to stop. This man was the shop assistant who spotted the pair by chance and decided this would be a good opportunity to get to know his former customer more. He was angry that she was with another man and demanded she speak with him in private for 5 minutes. Khun Ratirar refused and mentioned that she would not go anywhere with the man because she didn’t know him. This infuriated the now jealous man who, without notice, produced a gun and placed the gun at the head of her male friend. He then approached Khun Ratirar and punched her in her left eye. Passers-by alerted Police at the Dongtan sub-station on Jomtien Beach who managed to locate the attacker further up the beach. He was taken to the stationhouse and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, attempted abduction and possession of an un-registered firearm and is now behind bars pending a court appearance.

The government seriously needs to put a stop to this gun fanaticism. I see kids on the news getting caught with them all the time . The soap and movie industry seem to think that guns are essential to their succes.
