The Bbc, Maxnet & 1-2-call Edge.

Featured Replies

I have been trying to access the bbc sports live extra website for a couple weeks now. I have maxnet indy 3mb. the page was taking an incredible long time to load if ever and was almost impossible to get a stream. Sick of this i tried my edge modem with 1-2-call and not only did the page load quickly also a perfect stream from radio 5 live extra. My question is what did the BBC do to upset Maxnet as it seems to me someone put the brakes on. By the way can load any other site US, Aus & UK for any stream using my Maxnet adsl. Should have stuck with my edge Modem. I also changed DNS to opendns and did not make any difference.

I am on the same maxnet package.

It takes me ages to open any BBC sites through my bookmarks.

But for all BBC radio stations, just a few seconds of buffering when opening them with google sidebar radio gadget.

Don't ask me why, because I have no idea, but it works...

Guys and girls..

The news says that the tyfoon in japan killed the main line going abroad.. But this is a week ago.. Should be ok now..Any improvements..?

Just doing a little experiment - well it's Sunday morning and I've got nothing else to do.

Fifteen minutes ago I asked Google to connect to the Radio Four homepage from two different computers. My desktop is connecting via Maxnet Indy 5mb, and my netbook is connecting via a Nokia N95 on DTAC Edge.

Right now, my desktop is still trying to open the homepage.

My netbook took 30 seconds to open the homepage, and another 5 minutes to load the "listen live" link. It's been streaming the audio crystal clear since that time.

This seems to confirm that Maxnet is "doing something" to the BBC. Does anyone have any contact details for someone senior at Maxnet who might be able to explain this tampering?

glad to hear you are getting the same results as me. My edge with 1-2 call was so quick and the stream spot on. This is definately a maxnet problem.
