Education Visa & Extensions

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am considering taking a Thai language course for 180 hours for which they help with the one year Non Imm ED. My concern is how can I continue to stay in Thailand after than unless I keep studying? If I am considering investing in a yoga/pilates venture would that help me qualify? If so do I have to have a certain amount of money in a Thai bank or can I keep it my country or origin? And would I have to leave the country every 3 months? Any info would be gratefully appreciated. Thank you!

Thanks again for any response. This forum has supplied me with a great amount of information.

Cheers!

Janice

ps my brother has lived here 6 six years, has a Thai child (no wife at the moment) but owns his own business. Is there anyway that connection might work to an advantage? (i.e. visiting family, health concerns,etc.?).

To get a visa and/or extension of stay for investment requires 10 million baht be brought into the country.

If you invest in a company you could work for it and get a work permit. If it has been in business for about 2 years then you could get an extension of stay if not then it would be border runs every 90 days.

If your brother has an extension of stay then you could get a non immigrant O visa to visit him. From any nearby consulate that would only be a single entry visa. In your home country (or Australia) you could probably get a multiple entry visa.

Otherwise you could just keep going to school for a few years if you want to.

Thank you for your help. Studying seems like the best option but I will have time to decide once I am granted the ED visa for 1 year. I appreciate your response! Also, if my brother has his own business (over two years) could I somehow work for him to get a visa?

You could work for your brothers company and get a work permit. If you could get the work permit then you could get a visa and/or extension of stay.

To make the process quicker you could first get a single entry non-o at a nearby consulate. With this visa you could get the work permit and get an extension of stay based upon employment.
