I tried to find the thread on the BNE signs stuck up all over the place, but couldn't.

A visiting colleague from Taiwan was intrigued to see one of these signs and says that the Chinese characters below the "BNE" mean "convict (a person sure to be put in prison for some period of time)".

Does anyone know what the BNE stickers are all about?

No consensus on the threads as to what it means. Does the Chinese provide a clue?

(Or perhaps a cunning subliminal campaign by Tourism Queensland and the "Our Brisbane" people.)

BNE is just the handle of an artist. this was just a poor man's guerilla marketing that put his name on the map. BNE stickers exist in all major cities of the world now, it seems.

dude is just an artist, there is no controversy anymore.
