Three Long Years

Featured Replies

just a quick thank you to all the fellow board members who have helped me and the wife eventually get ILR. it took us three years of jumping through hoops to get. but today we went to Liverpool for the same day service( £1020 )and got what we had worked so hard to get.one thing that i found particularly galling was the chap in front of us was from Pakistan and had just been granted political asylum on the grounds that he was frightened to return to Pakistan, but was inquiring if it would be OK for him to return to Pakistan for a two week holiday !! i think i am correct in thinking that political asylum seekers do not have to pay. what a complete shambles this country has turned in to. any way we are happy !!

Congrats.

Going for citizenship next? If she's been here three years she can apply now.

(And I agree about asylum seekers. If they can return home for a holiday then they can return home to live, IMHO!)

Yes 3 years from first entering the UK you may apply.

Good Luck Micky to you and your family.

Three long years eh.

my g/f dumped me after 3 long years and married one of the "another one's".

no we have had too long out of the UK in the last 3 years to apply,(this was why they were reluctant to give ILR first time around)future plans are winter thailand summer uk,flights booked this morning fly out next tuesday, come back may.realise we have to be carfull about not spending too long out the uk and loosing the ILR, but we will still be maintaing our home in the uk, ie paying the comm charge, so i think we will be ok. cheers mossfin and 7by7. all the best.

Congratulations !!!!!!!

Having done through a similar experience ( with the USA government) I know exactly how you feel . The mixture of elation, relief, and anger. I too spend a significant part of my life, ( about 2 year) jumping trough hoops, trying to legally do what was my constitutional right, while watching , millions of illegal aliens ( estimates range from 12-20 million) happily prancing around, ignored my the system. They have negatively affected your life for 3 years, don’t let the anger affect your life any more, now all this will be a bad memory and you will be happy with your wife.

Best Off Luck.
