Would anyone be able to help me with the following Thai idiom:

ขอคารวะหนึ่งจอก

I sort of understand the individual words: may I have some praise/respect one tumbler??? but, clearly from that nonsensical translation, the overall meaning is lost on me. I have searched through online and hard copy dictionaries but can't find anything on this particular expression. Is จอก a classifier here of คารวะ??

Any assistance from the forum's resident experts would be greatly appreciated!

จอก means a glass for Chinese and Japanese Sake.

It is not from Thai Idioms, but Chinese.

Never heard of it before, but according to this Thai website it's a way of showing respect to someone for their skill in some endeavour. Apparently some cultures show respect via drinking and the phrase comes from Chinese films where you can often hear:

“ ผู้น้อย ขอ คารวะ หนึ่ง จอก "

Maybe something like "May I show my respect by raising a drinking glass/ may I salute you with a drink"?
