The Best Way Tp Post A Credit Card From The Uk

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Does anyone have any experience of posting a new credit card from the UK to Bangkok. In the past I have had letters go missing/not arriving. Is registered post a safe bet?

Cheers, Rick

My folks always post my new UK debit/credit cards from the UK using the Royal Mail service and they've always arrived safe and sound within a week usually less.

I recently posted a credit card from the US using the US Post Office's EMS (Express Mail Service). I presume there is an equivalent service from the UK since EMS is available as a service within Thailand. I was able to monitor online the progress of the delivery of the package.

Plain jane looking letter IMO works best. No birthday cards, nothing that might look like it might contain cash. Thai sender name to Thai recipient name (of course, might not always be an option for you).

Thanks for the input guys. I will take note.

Had mine sent recorded delivery and listed as photos. Had no problem getting it. Was sent to the head man for the village as it had to be signed for. He then delivered it to me. Maybe they wanted to make sure it was received.

Royal Mail 'International Signed For' (I think that's what it's still called) works well and is economical.

As others note make it look plain and certainly not like any form of greeting card. Most cards need a phone activation nowadays, so even if it does go astray there should be no danger.

Received my card yesterday from UK by "International Signed For". It took 6 days from posting to receipt and cost £6.14 (quite cheap I thought :) ) This was a plain jiffy bag sent to my name at my appartment in Udon, the customs declaration was "documents".

Just to clarify my card did need phone activation because I told my bank I was in Thailand BUT unlike back in UK this takes 24 hours to go through.
