Extending A Tourist Visa In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I've currently got a 60 day tourist visa and I'm wondering where to go in Bangkok to extend it for a further 30 days. I've checked out the Bangkok Immigration Division's website but it's horribly designed and I can't find anything about extending a tourist visa there. While this seems like a logical place to go, this is Thailand and there may be a completely different office to go to that I don't know about.

Can anyone help me out with this? Where exactly do I go in Bangkok to extend the tourist visa? If you could provide me with a weblink and address, that'd be very very helpful.

Thanks

If you are in Bangkok Suan Plu is where you will need to go.

You just need copies of your passport photo page, visa page, entry/permit to stay page and TM6 departure card. A completed TM7 form with a 4 X 6 cm photo attached and 1900 baht for the fee.

Download form here: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/tm7.doc

Cost is 1,900 baht and don't forget to bring a photo.

Thanks everyone.

Just one more question. What time do I need to go in to extend the visa? I assume it's in the morning, right?

Any time from 8:30 to 4;30 but they close for lunch. You check in and get a number.

just go before your expired date if you go on the last day on your visa you will get 7 days only chok dee

If he goes on his permission to stay last day he will get 30 days. It is always a good idea to go early as you do not lose any days by doing this.

Is it possible to extend a Tourist Visa at Suvarnabhumi Airport?:

National Airport Immigration Division

99 APC Building Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangna-Trad Rd., Bangpli, Samatprakarn 10540

Tel. 0-2325-7002/5

Airport immigration office closed several years ago. They now only deal with in airport functions. For Bangkok Suan Phlu until 28 September and Soi 7 Chiang Wattana Road after that.

It mean we can extend tourist visa in Soi Suan Phul on 28th Sept. For Chiang Wattana, can you please give the link to get the map. What is the nearest sky train station or what is the land mark to reach there?

Thanking you.

I believe Suan Phlu will be closed on gthe 28th. New office I believe opens on the 1st at Soi 6. You can get a map from Ministry of Foreign Affairs website - it is just down Soi 6 behind there office. There is no skytrain out there.

Thank you for your prompt reply and info. The mother of my friend who is 68 yrs old would like to extend her visa in Bkk. Her visa will expire on 3 of Oct. So, when and where should be the best for her to extend?

I want to go to Nong Khai on the 21st of Sept. to get 30 day extension on my 60 day tourist visa. Visa up on Sept. 26. Do you think there will be any problem with that?

A tourist visa can be extended early so I would do it now (both above posts). The time will be added on to the current permitted to stay date so nothing is lost is doing it early. Normally would always try to be a week early if I were doing myself.

I talked with some agencies for extending tourist visa for the mother of my friend. They said on this Thur and Fri (24 sep and 25 sep), Soi Son Phlu office will be very busy for moving. Next Mon and Tue (28 sep and 29 sep), they will busy again in new place. They all suggest her to extend at Son Phlu office not later than Wed of this week. You all might aware of that but just share the info that I got.

That makes a lot of sense. I suspect it will be chaotic in the moving period.

I'm from one of those visa-exempt countries where I'm automatically stamped with a 30day stay by airport immigration on arrival whenever I'm there for holiday. I may have opportunity to holiday up to 3 months in the kingdom soon, so the usual 1month period isn't sufficient :D

Is this the same situation as the OP and I go to Suan Phlu/CHeang Wattana office to get extension? But I would want 60day extension though, on top of my standard 30day stay :)

What do I need to do? :D

Forgetting it would be a good start. You might get a 7 day extension with an outbound airticket within that time and 1900 baht fee.

A tourist visa can be extended 30 days - a visa exempt entry can not - and without a ticket out within 30 days you may not even be allowed to fly. Obtain a tourist visa prior to travel - that will get you 60 days on arrival and can be extended another 30 days.

Short, sharp and helpful ... if only all replies are like this! Cheers :)
