Can anyone from verify that this was a genuine story, reported in a Thai newspaper from around September 2007?

mhm, that link goes to a story posted by a banned troll, follwed by stupid jokes. not a prove that it is/was a genuine story.

Article was so jovial I expected to hear Police had good laugh then released him. No wonder the report seems incredulous. The villagers might put Razor blades in banana trees to put an end to it.
