Extension

Featured Replies

I'm off to the immigration today to get my usual yearly Non Imm O extension and just want to be clear regarding the money I have to show in the Bank and are there any new changes to the application process? Seems they change things every month or day even, I just want to make sure I have everything I need.

I have had over 400,000 my personal Thai bank account since July 15th 2009. Is this ok?

The rest of the documents I'll bring the will be the normal stuff I've always bring. This is my 3rd extension.

I'll bring 2 copies of everything.

- application

- copy of my visa and departure slip

- copy of passport both my wife(thai) and I

- copy of her id and address book

- her business registration and our tax slips

- wedding certificate

- house and wife pictures

- map to the house

- her bank statments

- my bank statments

- 4x6 photos

Thanks for any replies.

Your Wife,s financial status does not come into it any more.

It has to be your money and your salary. Not joint.

The 400,000 Baht in your Thai bank account should be enough. However it has not been in the bank for long so may be disallowed.

Letter from your Thai bank verifying your balance. Up to date Bank Book showing the same balance.

Don't forget to take your Wife to be interviewed.

The regulations as of November 2008.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

Funds have to be in bank account for 2 months prior to application, but some immigration offices are asking for 3 months. Check with your immigration office what their requirements are. If 2 months you are a week short. Can you delay applying for your extension? If not, obtain 60 day extension on basis of thai wife and then do extension after funds have seasoned. You will need to take wife, her ID card and house book with you.

My visa dosen't actually expire till Oct 13. If I go to the immagration begining of Oct is that enough advance time for them? The reason I'm going now is I just won't have much time at all in Oct to get to the imm office.

This is a new requirement and only being asked for at e few offices, but might be needed.

Actually, you mean your extension of stay doesn't actually expire till Oct 13. Your visa expired long ago. Beginning of Oct will be fine. You will get 30 day "under consideration" stamp and a date to go back to immigration.
