Anybody have recent experience with obtaining a visa?

There is no Thai Embassy or consulate in Taiwan, however the the Thai commercial office is able to issue you a tourist visa if you have the onward airline ticket.

May I check if ur answer is from personal experience or.....

Only single entry visa, and it is from my own personal experience, however unless you have some kind of business to do or you want to explore that part of the world, it is not advisable to seek a tourist visa from there. There are many other much better places to do that.
