buadhai Posted March 18, 2005 Share Posted March 18, 2005 Phuket by far. I've tried Pattaya a couple of times but always return to Phuket. I've done liveaboards out of Phuket every year for the last decade and have always immensely enjoyed the time; whether it's just the Similans, a cruise up to Burma, or some local day trips. Any experienced diver would go to Phuket / Krabi for the trips out to some very good diving areas. But for learning it may be better to try Pattaya first, instruction in the hotel pool, then off-shore in shallow water, then a couple of reef dives / wreck dives in slightly deeper water.
