Visa Renew And Income Tax

Featured Replies

Hi, need your help?

I've arrived to Bangkok on 4 Sep for temporary work here for 3 months and hope that I'll get the work permit on Oct.

But I'll leave Bangkok at the end of Dec., someone told me that I must pay income tax in Thailand.

I have heard that if you stay in Thailand less than 180 days. I do not need to pay income tax. Is that true?

However, just in case of I have to stay in Bangkok longer than that period or may be until April 2010.

Of course, it is over 180 days. Do i need to pay income tax of last year (oct-dec 2009) again?

Thanks a lot for your help.

You always pay income tax.

Normally tax will be taken from your monthly salary, calculated as if you would receive that salary for a full year.

Work less then a full year and most likely you will get a tax re-fund.

Work only a short time and you might fall under the 150,000 Baht level total income, meaning you'll get a full refund of taxes paid.

They haven't asked for proof of having paid taxes when you leave in many years.
