September 14, 200916 yr I actually act a lot like that (don't like being asked questions and such) but my girlfriend always catches me out. I thought Thai people were not supposed to be judgemental and such? Ian
September 14, 200916 yr Ref: The Thai System, dont expect change anytime soon? Disagree. Definitely disagree. You shouldn't expect change at all. There is no will for change in Thailand because there is no perceived need for change, everything is just hunky-dory. Remember, this is the house that Jack built and Jack likes this house just fine.

September 16, 200916 yr Thanks for posting this topic. I hadn't read it before and it explains many things that obviously create problems between westerners and traditional Thais. However, I do believe there are many Thais who have become westernized and don't follow the old traditions. I know many of the bar girls I know no longer follow many of the traditions. But, they are just one segment of society that gets black listed by traditional Thais. There truly IS a caste system in Asia and India.

And change will not happen in our, our children's, or our grand children's life times I printed the article in the link (OP) and gave it to "her indoors" to read, and said now do you believe what I have been telling you about your education system.
