Red Shirt Airport Protest

Featured Replies

Apparently the government is checking into claims that the red shirts may be heading to the airports. Anyone else heard this reported from other sources? I suspect it's more rumor and speculation, but since I have a friend flying in on Saturday, I'm a bit more interested. :)

I also suspect it is a rumour - The red Shirts said they would never take the Airports like the Yellows did.

No because burning buses and violently attacking the Prime Ministers goes down so much better ...

Agree that it is just one of the many rumours currently circulating. Unhelpful confusion.

Note that the promise by the red-shirts, not to take the airports, nevertheless didn't stop them from sending 500 supporters to Chiang Mai airport, to 'greet' the current PM, and that's what the PAD were originally doing at Suvarnabhumi last November.

I hope they learned from the Pattaya Asean conference fiasco to take the reds seriously. Clearly Thaksin is very desperate at this point and desperate people are DANGEROUS.

:) Yeah, classy, especially when you get monks involved in the violence too. We also have to give credit to the reds for shutting down the ASEAN summit. I'm not much of a fan of ASEAN anyway, but still.

Let's not forget about the shutting down of Silom Road, Siam Paragon and basically the whole city for quite a few days too. At least they've got the military out and earning their keep.

Reds heading towards the airpot? I wouldn't put it past them. But this time, the military and police have experience. If they let it happen again, the FAA will likely pull the plug on that airport and they will not be getting any more international flights there within the near future. Lack of good security there is an obvious problem.

Never seen the site OP have posted the link to here.

A quick look and I saw that about 99,9999% of all the headlines there were negative stories about Thailand.

Dont know how reliable that site is.

Maybe other members here know about it?

Having said that, I seriously hope the government still remember the huge international embaressment they suffered during the last air port siege.

Good point, closing the airports wasn't even noticed overseas and yet harassing the PM car was world news. Yeah, the yellows are the good guys and the reds the axis of evil, I know, Sondhi told me so. By the way are you heading out to Cambodia for the nationalist yellow provocation this weekend? Or just staying home and tuning into some ASTV mind dead? My advice, go to Cambodia and show them godless b*stards.

Cant agree with you there Sir.

Having 300 000+ foreigners stranded, got a lot of attention, and had a lot of travel agents panic-stricken due to cancellations and a wave of worried people calling them that already had booked their flights/holidays in Thailand.

CNN and BBC World had daily coverage.

I work in a multi national environment were we represent prox 40 nations, and all my colleagues asked me how this was possible, in a so called civilized country.

i have a feelinmg he was being sarcastic!!!!!

In that case, I do apologize for my outburst.

But it felt good.
