September 16, 200916 yr Hi All I have bought many CDs and DVDs from Amazon UK and never before had any problem - the small package is posted in the UK and I pick it up from my Post Office box. This morning I was stung for B607 customs duty. The clerk at the Post Office said that they pick packets a random out of many thousands and I have just been lucky on all the previous occasions which amounts to dozens. I find this difficult to believe and I noticed that there is one diffference between this package and all the rest in that it was posted from Germany. I wonder if there is any connection? Has anyone had a similar experience and does anyone know whether there is an import duty on a DVD? It looked as if it had not been opened but the cost was quoted on the outside.
September 16, 200916 yr Yeah 30% + 7% compounded on the DVD and the shipping.. I used to buy lots of stuff not sold here, non mainstream films.. And it used to cost a bundle.

October 2, 200916 yr Author stung this morning... been waiting 6 weeks for LOST SEASON 3 from Amazon UK (posted via Deutsche Post), never had a problem before....Now they want me to pay 1,193 Baht import duty......... it only cost me 953 baht INCLUDING the shipping! This is my first one via Germany and first one i have had a problem with TJK Yes, I also have never had a problem until the package that arrived from Deutsche post. All previous packages have been by Royal Mail. I am sure that there is a connection but when I complained to Amazon they denied that it was possible and said that mail normally goes through Germany, which I do not believe. If this persists, one solution might be to switch to Amazon.com so that the post arrives from the USA.
October 3, 200916 yr maybe searching for German porn lol... rang the post office this morning... nothing they can do, but they did tell me that Customs are just looking for extra revenue... he said a Thai person would pay around 300 Baht import duty for the same DVD! Lucky i have family coming out to visit in 2 months, extra suitcase on standby!.... =)
