Study English For 3months

Featured Replies

I've been lurking around the forums for some time now, but didn't create an account until now and I'm posting this on a fellow friend’s request.

I will travel to Bangkok in the end of this year to study English for 3months. I'm not sure what type of VISA I should apply for and what type of documents I should show to the embassy. I will get a recommendation letter or something similar to that from the school, but I'm not sure it will benefit the visa request.

So my question is should I try to apply for a Non Immigrant visa-ED or should I apply for the 90day single entry tourist visa (60+30)?

Is it legal to study on a Tourist visa btw?

Your friend should apply for single entry Non-ED visa to study, and will need a letter from the school to support the visa application. He will get a 90 day permission to stay on entry into Thailand which can be extended in 90 day blocks at immigration (fee 1900 baht per extension) with supporting paperwork from the school, should your friend decide to stay and study longer.

thx thaiphoon.

Does anyone know about the legal issue? Whether its legal or not to study on a tourist visa?

You can study on any kind of visa without any problem, from cooking course to university.
