Civet In A Tiny Cage Next Door!

Featured Replies

To get to my house i have to pass this tiny little civet in a small cage with barely anything in there. The civit is probably as big as squirrel. One branch where the poor thing stays curled up on in the upper corner of the cage and nothing else. The cage is kept in the laundry room of this big house of my rich Thai neighbors.

I didn't even see a bowl of water in there. I did see a plastic bag with liquid, not clean, tied inside on one side.

It is breaking my heart to see this when I drive past.

I live with a Thai who told me I should go talk to the neighbor myself (having a Thai boyfriend is not proving to be as useful as I thought).

So my question is does it have a chance to survive if it was let free? If i was to acquire it what would I do with it? WHere can i take it?

And of course what am I going to say to the morons next door to let me set it free?

I find it all so distressing!

Thanks.

I did look up civet care online found nothing except about killing them.

Also I just can't randomly report them as I am the only person who drives up their driveway on their private property to get to my house as they allow me too.

If the little civet has been caged from birth the chances of him making it in the wild are slim. Not recommened to try and release the Civet. He will probably die in the wild. I would simply leave some food and water for the animal everyday. Show your neighbours that you are interested in the animal. Hopefully they will follow by example.

Your bf won't help, eh? Understandable, if it feels to him like you're poking your nose into your neighbor's business.

I totally sympathize with you. Idea... you COULD offer them some money to buy the Civet, then go on to love it and take care of it properly...???

Just an idea, and here in LOS, everything has it's price...

And re the bf; get him on the same page, if you decide to offer to buy the civet, and even then, he'll still be unwilling to do the talking... but maybe you can get him to tag along, and when the communication breaks down, and it will, he'll likely jump in, and help.

Works for me every time!

Good luck!!

Money! Yes I can offer to buy it. Maybe the bf would not mind to go tell the neighbors that his gf would like to buy it as she has never seen one etc....

Then what do I do with it? I have 2 cats and 3 dogs. I am afraid the cats will scare it and try to get it and maybe get a nasty bite in the process.

It would be to wierd to just stop my motorbike at their laundry room and shove things in the cage.

Ask you BF to translate this page for them.

Do your neighbours drink coffee?

Yes I saw that first link..

This is great "Continue to feed civet by sweet porridge with sub-products of pork, dog, cat, fish, or concentrate poultry feed. Can add multi-vitamin for more growth."
