ZOOKA
Sorry my computers playing up I am looking to buy a new car next year ideally for cash from a main dealer in Hua Hin Honda City. I will only be on a 30 day visa but will have the yellow house book and various utility bills in my name. Thai Co paperwork also if needed Will this suffice or would a 1 yr Non immigrant O type visa assit??? or do I need a work permit??? Obviously I will check with the dealer. Hopefully paying cash will help?? Any experiences welcome Thanks
Rdrokit
I think you will need a "Letter of Residency" from Immigration as I did when i bought my 2 cars (not at the same time). You should be able to get the letter if you show your yellow house book.

Anyone know the score please?? Thanks

Felt 35
In the latest paper issue of Phuketgazette there are a foreigner asking if he can buy a second hand car! The reply from the second hand dealer is that he can buy car, but will have to pay for it in cash. If he want to buy a car on hire purchase he will need a work permit. Is this now a standard procedure all round or is it based on a bit goodwill. I have previously bought cars by hire purchase and have never had any work permit!
