Hill Tribe Charity Group.

I saw a while ago in a toilet of some bar or restaurant a sheet on the wall saying about donating any old clothes to a Charity for Hill Tribes.

It was a while ago and I cant remember where.

Basically, I have a load of stuff to give away and need to find the telephone numbers of any group that would take it off my hands.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I have a hill tribe friend and I give him everything I need to dispose of as long as it is still in good shape. It shouldn't be hard to find someone, but I have no specific recommendations. Another way of getting rid of stuff of value is to bag it up well and leave it on the street. In most neighborhoods guys come around all the time to see if there is anything of value in the trash bins.

how about posting here a list somewhere a list of these northern charities with perhaps their drop off points instead of the rubbish bins pick up notes....?????

and of course you can contact: http://www.gt-rider.com/motorcycle-tours-d...ang-mai-toyride when you have toys and other items they can use. Some of them are TV members.

edit: The CM Toy Ride will have another event this September the 30th. :)

CMTR Playground Plus! San Tor School, Hang Dong District.

September 30, we will meet at Richco Motorsports (Harley Davidson) in Chiang Mai at 10:00AM. A planned departure time of 10:30AM will take us to San Tor School in Hang Dong. At this school of approximately 73 children, age 5-12 years of age, we will have lunch, snacks, games and a clown.

As part of our Playgrounds Plus program we will donate a Ping Pong table (table tennis), athletic equipment, games and a computer; which were items requested by the students and staff. We will also, for the first time, be donating backpacks/book bags bearing the CMTR logo which have been custom made for the Chiang Mai ToyRide.

Please come join us for the ride, the fun, and to help the children!

Where are you located? Please see this Word Doc to read all about it. Collecting_used_things_for_people_in_Karen_village.doc I know Wero personally, she is very diligent and caring. This project is 100% on the level -- for once, not a scam. Her e-mail address is [email protected].

I can't remember if e-mail addresses are allowed here, so if it gets stripped out, you can PM me. I am taking a pick-up load up to Mae Sariang from Phitsanulok on September 27. If you are along the way, I can p/u your stuff. I will be in BKK on around 10/5, so can p/u stuff there around then if anybody has stuff and can meet me somewhere that I can find (I'm not too good at navigating BKK). Anybody wishing to contact me about this, please PM.

Thanks,

John

Donating to Hill Tribes seems a very worthy cause. Just be aware to do so though a proper recognized medium as some foreigners in Chiang Mai choose to directly sponsor 14 - 15 year old Hill Tribe boys. If this ever hopefully blows up in their miserable faces you wouldn't want to be remotely near it.
