Urgent Query On Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

have an urgent query regarding tourist visa. I am from Singapore currently in BKK on a tourist visa (exemption scheme), which means I can stay for up to 30 days. My 30 days in BKK is almost up, however due to some urgent matters, I need to stay on longer. If I fly back to say for example, Singapore, on Friday evening and return on Saturday evening to BKK, will I get a 30-day extension?

Thanks

Yes, you will get another 30 days, you can turn around and fly straight back in. I believe you can also extend your current 30 day entry stamp for 7 days at an immigration office here in Thailand for 1900 Baht, I'm sure one of our resident visa experts can confirm that.

You are entering the country on 30 day 'visa exempt' stamp. That is not a visa. You can extend for 7 days at immigration (fee 1900 baht) with a ticket out of the country within 7 days. Or leaving the country you will get a further 30 days visa exempt entry by re-entering the country by air, or 15 days by re-entering at a land border. Or if you need to stay longer apply for a tourist visa. They are currently free.

ahh icic.. hence the option of me flying out of the country and back in the next day will work but is not cost-effective. I will be better off applying for a tourist visa. How long can I stay on with a tourist visa then?

Vientianne (Laos) is currently issuing double entry tourist visas free of charge (usually just single entry). With extensions and a border run in the middle you can stay for nearly 6 months.

At a Thai Consulate or Embassy outside Thailand you sure can.

okay, got it. anyway, I just found out that I need to make a trip back home in any case. so I will have to take the original option of flying back on friday n returning to bkk on sat. the extra 30 days should be more than sufficient for me.

thanks alot thaiphoon and judas :)
