Cyclic Internet Failure

Featured Replies

The internet has been almost entirely awful for the past couple of weeks and there are plenty of threads about that but my torrent and Skype connections seem to behave in a different way. The speed tab in uTorrent is the only way I can get some kind of impression as to what's happening and today I notice that all my connections are dropping to zero regularly at five minute intervals. Does anyone have an explanation?

Could be some bit of hardware resetting, maybe the modem or the LAN card, and maybe due to overheating.

Maybe it's your ISP sussing out that you are using a bittorrent client and reducing your bandwidth (unlikely, as I don't think it works that way).

Is your modem hot? Try using a fan to keep everything cool.

For a fairly decent graphical monitor utility, try Netmeter, free from here: http://www.metal-machine.de/readerror - gives a pretty easy to understand picture of traffic up and down:

My internet just outside of Cha Am seems to die for a few hours every day now for an hour or two.

No question of International lines,I cant even get Bangkok Post or Thai Visa.

i'm gonna guess faulty router and/or modem. can you swap out and try a different unit?
