"i Wish" Is Carrefour's Command In Thailand

Featured Replies

CenCar Co, the the operator of Carrefour in Thailand, is introducing customer membership "I Wish" cards to shoppers in branches of the French chain there. This will be in direct competition with Tesco Lotus and Big C. CenCar currently has 1.6 million cardholders in the country, and wants to elevate this to two million by the end of the year.

Carrefour introduced the "I Wish" card to Thai shoppers in 2007, and rolled out the "M Card" earlier this year. A third of Carrefour's sales budget for Thailand - about fifty million baht - will go on the Carrefour Month campaign running until October 29th, and this will feature special offers on the card. Discounts of between 3% and 100% will be available on a customer's next purchase at thirty-seven stores across the country. This is the first time that cardholders will be entitled to giveaways on the terms of the card.

CenCar are launching this "I Wish" card, and the offers that come with it, to woo customers and combat the global recession which is still doing damage in the area. By doing this, Carrefour in Thailand hopes to boost its number of loyal card-carrying customers from 60% to 70%.

With every retailer having such a thing nowadays, what's the point really? going to carrefour today, ok pull out my card. Tops more convenient tomorrow, no problem, got one of those too.

Unless they mean I can also collect points for some plastic plates to serve food to the stray cats around the neighborhood. Great!! can wait to become a loyal point collector.
