Can We Call A Public Telephone Box ?

Featured Replies

I'm in France and I try to call my girlfriend in a public phone. It doesn't seem to work, when I try to reach a TT&T phone box, I end up with an automatic answering machine, if i try a TOT phone box I can hear the tone but eventhough my girlfriend pick up the call the tone keeps playing and we can't hear each other.

Any ideas ?

Every Thai girl I know has a mobile. Why an earth would you call her at a public call box ? :)

Stop the Thai boyfriend answering the mobile? :D

Probably to make sure she is in Nakon nowhere and not at her former workplace?

The OP asked " Can We Call A Public Telephone Box"

If you can't give an answer no need to post speculations.

Please stay on topic.

I think the OP has already answered his own question.

What about getting a landline installed for her.

To those wondering why i'm not calling her on her mobile: Because I can call landlines for free with my voip subscription:

1h of communication on her mobile = 15 euros

1h of communication on a landline = 0 euros

And I know there are quite many phone boxes nearby her apartment...

Also having her own landline is not under consideration since she rents her place and we don't want to spend more money for that.

Any other suggestions about how to call a telephone box ?

why dont you tell her to go to her regular internet cafe, get a head set and chat via skype or similar?

Getting a land line installed in her apartment is not expensive "and then you will know for sure if she is at home or not" (but you won't know whether she is alone or not) :)

Can We Call A Public Telephone Box in Thailand ?

Looks like we cant answer your question. However I remember back home they did have a number printed on public phones and yes you could call them.

Let her look at a public phone, maybe she can see a number, if not let her call you from that public telephone to your phone. If there shows a number up on your display, call that number. If she takes the phone, then yes you can call her, if not you have to find another solution.

I hope WE could help you.

This is old information but may be relevant unless things have changed in the past 7 or so years.

A village I lived in had 2 landline phones. One was a public phone box and the other a private phone near the chairman’s house. There was no mobile signal at that time.

The owner of the private phone made a living from that phone as all calls coming into the village went through their private phone. They would charge the villagers receiving the calls 40 b for calls originating in Thailand and 100 b for overseas calls.

As I say its old information and at that time the public phone was for outgoing calls only.
