Visa Extention For My Parents

Featured Replies

Hi. I have the 1-year non-immigrant visa which I extented here in Thai immigration bereau. My parents live in my home country. If they want to stay here with me, how to apply the best longer visa for them? I have heard that they need to get a relationship certification from the notarization bereau and then authenticated by the foreign affair office and Thai embassy in my home country, then my parents can get a visa extention here based on above and pre-applied 90 non-immigrant visa. Is it true? Thanks a lot.

Do you have a visa (90 day entry each) or a one year extension of stay from Immigration? If extension of stay on what basis?

As I mentioned, I have the 1 year visa extention already which based on the marriage with Thai. Thanks.

Sorry eyes missed it on first read. You are then here under section 2.18 of police order 777/2551 which is pinned at top of forum under the useful information heading. The provision for parents to obtain extension of stay requires they be age 50 or over but the bad news is that you being on 2.18 does not qualify (unless there has been a misprint). If you were here on a retirement/work or most other provisions it would.

As Lopburi said you are here using 2.18 (6) Unfortunately not included in 2.20

2.20 In the case of a family

member of an alien who has been permitted temporary

stay under clauses 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.5, 2.6,2.7, 2.10, 2.12, 2.13,2.4, 2.15, 2.16, 2.17,

2.21, 2.22,2.26,6.29 of this Order (applicable only to parents, spouse, child, adopted child or child of

his/her spouse):

Permission will be

granted for a period of

not more than 1 year at a time.
