Aunty Chucks Kids From Window

Featured Replies

We talk about Thai kids here and how they are vulnerable, but none with such a sorrowful end as this story.

Its largely been over-looked here - perhaps thats because it was a intra-family drama. Perhaps it tells us also about 'jai rorn' in Thai culture.

From the Bangkok Post.....

A 35-year-old woman threw her niece and nephew from the balcony of their ninth-floor apartment and then jumped to her death after the children's mother refused to lend her money to settle a gambling debt.

Nutsara Sripasen was found dead on the pavement at TEC condominium on Prachasongkhoh road in Din Daeng area. The bodies of two children five-year-old boy Yuta and his sister Yuhok, 6 were close by.

The children's mother, Praesri Sripasen, said Nutsara, her elder sister, phoned her at work asking to borrow 5,000 baht to pay off her gambling debt.

Mrs Praesri was reluctant to lend the money and told her sister they would discuss the matter after she returned from work.

Nutsara later phoned her again and said she would collect the children from their school. Mrs Praesri said she had no indication her sister would take the children's lives.

Her sister was fond of gambling. She had earlier given her 10,000 baht, but Nutsara lost the money gambling.

Mrs Praesri said her sister had a mental problem and had received treatment at Srithanya and Jittavej hospitals.

The bereaved mother said she had been living in Japan with her Japanese husband. They had a big quarrel and separated and then she and the children returned to Thailand eight months ago.
