Dead Puppy Fetus In Formaydihyde

Featured Replies

i visited an upcountry forest wat a while back and the temple was inhabited by a single heavyily tatooed monk who amoung other things (food, incenses, smokes, water) on the floor around him was a large jar filled with liquid and what looked like an aborted or stillborn pitbull fetus

any ideas?????

:o Don't have many ideas on that one.

It could be that someone offered it, and he just leaves it around. I have noticed all kinds of junk lying around temples.

It could also be a tool for reflection on the impermanence fo life.

Or otherwise a refelction on the unattractive view of bodies.... there are many passages that refer to viewing the body as unpleasant - such as the reflection on the 32 parts of the body

.... skin, flesh, bones, marrow, kidneys, membranes.....

This then, which is my body, is a sealed bag of skin filled with unattractive things..

It could also be a tool for reflection on the impermanence fo life.

Ajarn Chah used to keep a human skeleton inside the door of this temple for the same reason. Freaked a lot of people out.
