i just bought "cisco" wifi router model WRT54G2. after set up, i can connect my notebook through wifi. However, i have problem connecting my iphone and also my desktop (using USB wifi adaptor model WUSB54G).

i tried to call linksys service center and they said they are not able to help me setup iphone which i don't blame them. BUT they are not able to help me fixing problem with usb adaptor as well. they said my usb adaptor might not be working which i tested with other router and it still works. i am so fed up with this.

Will appreciate if anyone can give me some advice.

Can you be more clear about the PC USB WIFI? Does it show the router when you search for the router? Any error messages? Are you using WIFI security setup or you set to open WIFI which is the default setting?

The USB wifi could not find the router at first. When I called service center, i managed to find the network but it still unable to connect.

I tried both setup "with security" and "open" but the result is the same.

The next question is that the USB WIFI on the PC (This same PC and USB WIFI combination) will work with other router OK? or you just install this USB WIFI with another PC.

How about using this USB WIFI with you laptop to see if it will work?

Turn off the wireless encryption, it will not hurt for a few minutes

and check the basic connection.

Is the router set for the B and G standards, does you IPhone and USB stick support B/G

Once you have the basics working, turn on the encryption again.

Here again you have two flavours. WPA is the strongest, but maybe the IPhone

or USB do not accept it and you will have to go for WEP

Yes, i tried connecting this usb wifi with router at my office and it worked!

So, when i am back home and tried to connect the usb wifi with laptop, it still doesn't work with cisco router.

I recently had problems with this particular Cisco router on my friend's notebook. I took it back to the shop I bought it from, and the Cisco kid there also had problems. Finally, a True technician came out and chucked it out and replaced it with True's WiFi router and no problems. My guess is that this Cisco is too high tech for the internet here.
