Today True Corp gave me 1.5 mbps for free.

Before 1.5 mbps local, today when connected to internet I got 3mbps local for the same fee as 1.5 mbps.

Thanks True! :):D

Thanks for the info. Is that via your MOBILE or landline. If Landline, what town at you in?

3Mbps should be ADSL landline

Now high speed internet in Thailand is very competitive, 3M is the basic rate for most of provider

We are subscribed to 1Mbps on TRUE landline in BKK but have recently been upgraded to 2Mbps at same cost (599B +VAT) and it's working great.

Yesterday I got this e-mail from TRUE (it's in Thai and hope mods have no problem with it):

สวัสดีค่ะ

I think we will get double speed international also from October 27. :)

Thanks Billion for the translation but my son translated it for me already and I'm quite clear about it.

The reason why I posted it was for others to see what TRUE appears to be working on.

Here is what I'm not clear about:

Right now we are on 2Mbps and get about 1.7-1.9Mbps domestic AND international (Asia, US & EU) in real speeds, so quite happy.

My concern is that if I take the TRUE offer I may well get the 3Mbps domestic but get a downgrade internationally.

Here is the test result I get from the link in the e-mail:

I think I got the same thing. I'm on a 4mbit line but lately (the last 2 weeks) my downloads have been going at 600+kb/s. I checked my router to see if anything had happened to my line, and sure enough, it's a 5.8 Mbit line instead of the 4Mbit line now. Can't really complain about that. :)

My 8 Mb service was cranking along at about 10.5 this morning.

You may want to read the new conditions of service - including the below limitation on bandwidth usage.

1.6 The Company reserves the rights to discontinue its service pursuant to this contract if it appears that the Users subcontract or overuse of the following specified average amount of data transmission:

Speed

Data transmission during an hour (exceeding)

256 Kbps.

140MB

1 Mbps.

280 MB

2 Mbps.

560 MB

4 Mbps.

2240 MB

8 Mbps.

4480 MB

In case of subcontract with the overuse of the specified number of computers as per Clause 6.2, the Users acknowledge and agree that such act shall result in lower speed of this service and agree to reimburse to the Company subject to the number of the overuse devices and the period of subcontract. Accordingly, the Company reserves the rights to suspend its service.

Lopburi, do you have link to this new condition of service? I can't find it anywhere.

I think this is a first for Thailand, at least for non-mobile Internet.

I Have 8 Mbps "Down"... (in my Dreams)... but "Up" is capped at 512 kbps.. so to max out the 4480 MB (4.375 GB) in an hour is pretty much an impossibility, even with torrents running full Blast.... and every Leech in Thailand.

If the Leeches are International, Square-Head will get his money back long before I ever get close to maximum.

Click on terms and conditions near bottom center-left.

From the figures listed suspect that is a combination up/down total. So yes you could easily exceed it. And they don't say how many hours.
