Farangs Arrested In C.m. For Theft

Last night on the Thai news they reported that an Italian and a Colombian had been arrested for breaking and entering homes in C.M. and stealing cash and amulets, among other things. Apparently they were caught when they broke into the home of a well known singer and security responded.

I was only able to get bits and pieces of the story as my Thai language skills are not the best. I looked in the news clippings forum but didn't see anything there. Anyone else hear anything?

Thailand needs tougher immigration laws, terminate the visa runs and raise the visa minimum funds required.

Impose that all foriegners living in Thailand have to go through Immigration with a requirement that each applicant must have a document from their home country police as to what is or what is not on criminal file about them.

I only briefly read in the newspaper; but I think it said it was a Columbian and a German. They were caught breaking into a luktung singer's house in moo bahn Taweechoke, Doi Saket.

Same. Said that the singer is not normally at home and neighbors saw some suspicious activity, lights on, etc. Security and Police were called and responded to find the Columbian hiding in a canal beside the house.

Door kick was the method of entry.

Prior to the burglary there were 3 men (Strangers to the village) seen walking to the local mini mart buying drink which they apparently took back to a friends house they were visiting, on a near by Moo Bann not far from the other Moo Bann Taveechoke where the the house of a well known and well respected Singer locally known as Ying Yong was burgled.

Police were called and the two men ran away over the back of the property, one apparently escaped and the other fell in the clong and was aprehended.

The well known singer known as Ying Yong was in BKK at the time and was told of the incident by the police.

The singers house usually has the outside lights switched on by a neibour in the evening to give it the presence of some one at home, why this house was picked by these men i do not know they were in the village for just a day, there are a lot more houses in the area with out lights on, i suspect they had some help from some one who new the singer was not at home.

Sure, and lets ban anyone thats not on thaivisa under the username sassienie too.

Admittedly, we can do without these criminal types, but lack of big funds doesn't make you an undesirable. At least in my opinion, but apparantly not in yours.

Nothing has been said in paper today about their visa status, so Im unsure how you can comment on it being a visa issue? They may have just entered the kingdom on a tourist visa.

I agree with your post Mr mallmagician. On the bright side its nice to know that after they serve some time in the Chiang Mai Hilton they will be escorted (police) in cuffs to the airport and deported. HUM.. I wonder if they well learn a new profession while doing time?

Yes, that is good to know.

What interesting about sassienie's post is that he just yesterday stated this:-

There was a time in my eariler days when I fell in deep doo doos and just couldn`t see that light at the end of the tunnel. Divorced, death of my baby, lost my kids, homeless, no job. I won`t say anymore, don`t want to see ThaiVisa members cry.

But now 30 years on, I am an official member of the rich bastards club and the past is firmly behind me.

I reached my own conclusions about these two posts when reading them side by side. I won't offer my opinion here, but Im sure many others will reach the conclusions I have.

I could add something in respect of "the rich bastards" club but as it was told to me in confidence I am afraid that I cannot share it with you all.

It (my understanding) however does not concur with the said person being anything close to being in the "rich barstards club" and actually far from it.

Read between the lines :)

Yes, thanks for that one John.

I’m actually saying to Fred; that in my life I have hit rock bottom, but now after many years I suddenly find myself established and secure. I’m rich in being comfortable and have found happiness, but definitely not in the drinking cocktails and driving a merc category.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel, never give up hope.

LOL.. Now that would devastate the forum membership. :)

Further proof that the gated moo baans are maybe less secure than the open ones. I know [have lived in] Taweechok and altho they doubled the security because of break-ins, the thiefs can scale the 2 mt wall or cross the klong. Seems [to me] that a group of big houses cramped behind a wall are easy pickings for a would be robber and inviting when they are unoccupied as Ying Yong's vacation house was.

If not for the vigilance of the neighbor, the thief's would have gotten away with the [empty?] safe and it is the same on the 'outside' of the walls that make you feel secure. Make friends with your neighbors!!

Just be thankful they have not yet thought of giving every falang along with their visa an ankle bracelet like they do to keep track of the baddies.
