Phi Phi Island Day Trips - Snorkelling, Beach Etc ?

Hi,

Im not sure if I have put this is the correct section or not, I was going to put it under Phuket but will give it a try here.

We are meeting up with our two friends next weekend who are over here for their honeymoon and would like to all go for a day trip to Phi Phi island. Maybe do a little bit of snorkelling/swimming and beach. Can anyone recommend a good tour operator who runs such a trip? We would be looking for it to include all our food for the day too.

Many thanks :)

There are lots of them and if you walk along Patong you can get the trips for half of what you'd pay if you bought the same trip at a hotel.

You can book the boat trips either down near the Ao Nang shore in various places or at your hotel. We stuck to the larger looking operators and made sure that they provided life-jackets before we booked. We used "Koh Phi-Phi Tours" and also "Unseen". Their boats were both new and clean and the crews were wonderful.

The tour we did on day 1 was with "Koh Phi-Phi Tours".

It went to Maya, Phi-Phi Lei, Phi-Phi Don and also let us swim and snorkel and lie on the beach. There was an endless suplly of bottled drinking water and lunch was laid on in a restaurant on Phi-Phi, which was lovely. That trip cost us 1000 Baht each. It's generally 100-150 Baht cheaper to book from the Tourism office on the main shoreline stree of Krabi, than booking from the operator's office down at the shore. I guess they just try to figure out how wealthy you look and think up a price. Anyway the difference is peanuts so I wouldn't worry.

Our second trip was with an operator called "Unseen" which was called the "Hong Island" trip and it too was lovely. This trip actually landed us on three different Islands and showed us a few more. Lunch was provided on Hong Island and we got two hours to swim and relax there. I went for a short walk in the woods on Hong Island, where I found broken up boats that the Tsunami had left behind.

In both cases we were collected from our hotel by a car at 08.30 and we were returned to the hotel at 4pm. You need to wear clothes that you are happy to swim in. You get back into the boat in your wet gear, or else you can change on the beach if you've brought a dry-bag with fresh clothes. Both operators we used provided life-jackets and snorkels & masks etc (no extra charge) and all the kit was new and clean.
