A Question About Visa Extention With Work Permit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a question about visa extention here.

I came with a Non-B Visa and already had one year work permit till next year July. Non-B expired on Sep 10, and before that date, company lawyer and me went to the immigration bureau to extend the visa. They only extended one month and asked to come again on Oct. ( Normally first time visit, extend one month, and then will extend to the same date with the work permit on the second visit)

But today after lawyer came back, she told me only extend 2 month till Dec 8th.

I wanna know that is it a new limited permission polics from the immigration bureau? or just the applier that chose to pay different fee with extention period ( Min: One Month, Max: One Year)?

Who can help me to explain it? thanks a lot...

They normally do not extend but give you a 30 day under review period and if not ready in that time give more. There is no extra charge involved. You do not say where this happened - but if in Bangkok and a number of other places there have been huge changes taking place in work areas and personnel so expect longer than the normal 30 days is probably to be expected.

I extended at bkk, but anyway, thanks a lot. Since the work permit process is very fast, just a little confused about visa extention.

Work permit matters are dealt with by the Ministry of Labour. Extension of stay is dealt with by the Immigration Bureau. Two different departments.
