I rescued a kitten a few weeks ago.. I'ts doing well and I guess is around 3 Months old now. Trouble is I have to go to the UK for a couple of weeks with my GF. Is there anywhere in town that will do a good job of looking after my cat ? Is it posible to leave it with a Vet etc or a proper cattery ? Don't want some shonky Somchai establisment where they will leave the poor bu**er in a cage all day...

Thanks

We take our (rescued) cat to one of the best vet hospitals in BKK which is very good but also very expensive. Despite this, when we visited our cat during a one week stay in the hospital we saw a cat they were caring for whilst its owner was away and it was locked in a cage 24/7. They let it out for a wander round for maybe 20 minutes. So if one of the best vets in BKK do this I wouldn't know who to recommend. When we go away we use a friend who moves in to look after the cat. Do you have anyone willing to do this? if the cat is house trained perhaps it could stay with a friend? Perhaps pay them a fee? I would rather give a friend or relative the money than a vet.

Hi PJ,

I actually ran a pet sitting business in NY for several years, and have been thinking about starting something similar once I'm all settled here in Pattaya. But I need to sort out the legality of it. However if you're looking for boarding I think it would be great comany to take care of your kitty while you're gone. It feels odd being here without any critter companions. :) As long as your kitten is litterbox trained they would have full roam of the house. Your dates would be the clincher - I'm staying in a hotel for October but will be moving into a house that accepts pets on 1 Nov. You can PM me if that works for you!

Kind regards,

WaatWang

If you ever start a buisness in Pattaya taking care of people's pets, please let me know, I have always been looking for someone to take care of my animals while I go away, but do not fancy leaving them caged up at some Vets.

Good luck with it.

Sounds like maybe there is a market for these services here after all! Having animals myself, that was the main motive, to make sure the pets are happy while you're away. I didn't think the vets around here really cater to that mindset. I will definitely keep you posted! :)

Thankyou, I am serious, and I maybe have freinds who are interested as well.

Its a very good idea if it works out. :D

Whenever we bring our dog to Pattaya we leave him at the Dog Hotel located off Sukhumvit road before you get into the city coming from Bangkok. I think the owner also will board cats as well. Here is the owners name/tel: Mr. Chaiporn, 086-1407896 and their website: www.thaipetcare.com

I looked for that Dog Hotel on the Sukhumvit last week, and it looked like they had closed down, the place was empty.... If its the same one you are talking about, it it just before Pattaya Klang turning? Just before Soi Nernplumwan ? if so, they have gone.

I dont think you were looking in the right place. I know they are still open because we just had our dog there last week for 3 days. Give the owner, Mr. Chaiporn, a call for directions, 086 1407896. It's not the easiest place to find.
