KanWin. Can you do me a favour as you are the Guru of Kanchanaburi :D

Can you list some hotels and guest houses that are close to the event please.

Thanks Allan

Hi Allan,

Comsaed River Kwai Resort with 107 beautifully furnished, spacious deluxe rooms

http://www.comsaed.com/non_fl/index.html

which is 19 km from downtown on the 3199 heading north.

At Lad Ya traffic lights trun left over the bridge and then trun right. It's on your right hand side down this little road.

As memntioned already

Pavilion Rim Kwai Resort with 194 rooms are nestled amongst lush greenery

http://www.pavilionhotels.com/rimkwai/rooms.php?lang=en

and just before this resort is

Nichigo Golf Country Club with Guest Rooms

Golf course view rooms 36

Jr. Suite rooms 16

Deluxe rooms 48

http://www.nichigoresortcc.com/hotel.php

and then the Xen Hideaway Resort with 72 Superior Twin Rooms and Suits each with its own balcony. 2 Lodges for 22 persons each.

After that or just before, sorry have not been up there for sometime, there is one on the right hand side of this road

Hotel Name : Erawan Princess Hotel

Address : 226 Mu 4, Lat Ya-Nam Tok Erawan Road, Tambon Wang Dong, Amphoe Mueang, Kanchanaburi

Room : 50

Price : 350 - 1500 Baht

Telephone : 0 3458 4123, 08 1311 2361

Fax : 0 3458 4056

Call them and ask....

Good luck, wish you all well and safe trip.

Yours truly,

Kan Win

Up date....

Went up to the first Dam last week-end and did not find that hotel above, so it must be further up hence the strikethrough bit.

Anyway, the good news is that I found

Aek-Pailin River Kwai Hotel with 105 guest rooms and suites with balcony and air condition,

http://www.aekpailinriverkwai.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1203

4 to 5 kms up road from the Pavilion Rim Kwai Resort and 7 to 8 kms up the road to Xen Hideaway Resort.

All in all enough rooms I think. If not then head back to town and please don't drink and ride you might spill it. :)

Take care.

Yours truly,

Kan Win :D

Sounds good.

The GF and I and another couple will be coming up from Hua Hin.

We will be traveling there by our 4 wheel transporter, but we want to get in on the bike ride on day 2.

Does anyone know if there any bikes available for rent near the Xen resort?

Thanks!

Poedogg. not as far as i'm aware. But we will ask around for you. What bikes did you have in mind?

We do have a contact for Harley rentals from BKK you need to prove that you are an experienced rider (the owners requirement)

Also the Xen resort is now fully booked. so if you are thinking of coming please book your rooms NOW.

More hotel listings soon.

Hi guys, for what it's worth, this event has been listed on the TMT site since it first came to my attention, and I've just updated the info with links to this thread on Thai Visa.

Also, to Chris, Allan and everyone else who has taken the time and effort to organize this event,.... Well Done!

"Respect and admiration is earned most, not by the wealth or power that we possess, but by the charity and compassion that we gift to our fellow man, and the concern, care and protection that we provide for the needs of children"

- You are certainly to be admired and respected for your efforts.

Unfortunately, I've been too busy recently to get actively involved in this one, other than by publicizing it on the TMT website, and I have personally shelled out quite a bit recently in terms of money, time and effort in support of some other charitable concerns,... the precise reason why I am writing this post at 3.52am in the morning and not having got to bed yet!

So, all the best for a successful and enjoyable event.

Thanks Mig. I didn't think of that :D

Did you also not think of the Petrol Stations that are in Kan? In Town sure, but to Xen only one after Lat Ya which is a 'PT' station.

Since I have no clue about Bikes mileage per litre and which road the bikes will take i.e. into town or around the town on our little ring-road.

What about notifying locals that this event will take place i.e. The Police, Emergency Services etc.. as we only have 3 hospitals in Kan.

Have you made provisions also for 'Brake-Downs", First Aid Kits etc.....

Please remember this is a very small town, but the 3rd largest province in Thailand :) Rural. Roads are good, but things are not like in BKK just around the corner, if you get my drift....

Yours truly,

Kan win :D

Kan. the local authorities have been notified. In fact the Governor and head of the Police amongst others are attending the opening ceremony. each ride out will also have support vehicles (trucks) following.

All ride outs have a police escort and we will carry spare fuel(at 50b a litre, all profit to the Charity :) ) for those that run out because they didn't fill up at the petrol station in Ban Len, were we are stopping 1/2 way through the ride up from Rangsit.

All good observations Kan, keep them coming. By the way i'm in Nakhom Pathom. So i'm used to rural and not the big glizty lights of the smoke.

Any one interested in the event and would like information, check the routes etc check www.dragonsmcthailand.com

Thanks Allan

Do you not understand - this is a fundraiser for the orphange! Did you do anything to help organise this? I don't think so.... Now all you can do is slag it and the Thai Visa admin. Who the hel_l do you think you are!!!

These guys have worked hard to organise this event and I, for one. am happy to do my little bit to assist.

What are you doing to help underprivileged kids in Thailand?

I hope you and bob/nyc have a nice life - don't cross my path.

Thanks for the location of Erawan Princess Hotel and yes I did missed it twice :D up and going back down. That means

Is actually about 8km's before Xen Hideaway on the right

it is very close to Pavilion Rim Kwai Resort which is on your left.

Have you also logged a special deal on the Food and Bevvies :) as I know that all the Up-Market Resorts charge Up-Market prices :D in Kan and everywhere in Thailand.

Yours truly,

Kan. we have Thai food vendors attending like most bike weeks. And we have Singha and Heineken attending with beer tents. they usually always do specials. also the Hotel will have their drinks tent as well. They are not going to charge huge amounts its just another revanue source. They are discounting the Rooms and providing a buffet within the price. Its all coming together well. I'm back up on Friday or Saturday to look at a few things.

ONE THING THOUGH. IF ANY ONE WANTS TO COME.......YOU NEED TO BOOK YOUR HOTEL NOW.

This is a very busy area for Bangkokian weekend holiday makers.

Hi Everyone,

The DMCT/Thai Visa Benefit Bike Weekend is in Kanchanaburi this weekend 21 -22 November 2009. It is just around the corner. Only 5 days and counting.

REMEMBER this is for the Foundation for Children which is a registered charity providing schooling and care for Orphans or disadvantaged children here in Thailand. It's a chance to give back to this beautiful country many of us now call home, We are particularly collecting for Moon ban dek orphanage school in Kanchanaburi ; See here for FFC details www.ffc.or.th

FFC rely on donations and help like ours, because they get NO money from the Thai Government.

If you would like to attend, please look at the accommodation on this page. http://dragonsmcthailand.com/InfoPage.html

Or browse the DMCT/Thai Visa info threads.

If you cannot attend you can make a simple donation through:

http://dragonsmcthailand.com/ATM_Donations..._Bike_Week.html

Remember that even if you give just 50 baht that it all adds up

(Example, 300 members giving just 50b = 15,000b). So with over 49,000 members here on Thai Visa, we should be able to give a healthy amount of money.

Foundation for Children is in need of your help…. Bikers and Non Bikers are invited to attend the event or help with donations.

For more information about the event , look here: www.dragonsmcthailand.com

Or contact Chris at 084 915 7009 / [email protected]
