October 11, 200916 yr Hi folks. I'm staying on Koh Phangan. I have a double entry TR. I entered the Kingdom first time (date stamped) 27 Sep 2009. So, My 60th day will be 25 November. If I head over to Samui and get 30 day extension then that will end 24 December (not ideal time and 5 months all up is what I budgeted for, I will extend on Samui with next entry if needed/wanted). So, I need to do a run towards the end of November from Koh Phangan. My first concern is the weather at this time of year, A few have offered to me that the weather can be so bad that the ferries to the main land stop running at a moments notice (fair enough, Im a boatie, I understand the ocean). Any comments?? If so, would this also be the case for the boats running over to Samui if i decide to take Firefly to Penang?? I am looking into Firefly from Samui to Penang/return but have read that they are "horribly unreliable". Any comments please??? Up-to-date info is also sought on Visa run companies here on Phangan. My research shows Mr Kim Travel Agency as being sufficient, reliable and fast (??).. It is however, the only company I have seen mentioned, any others to chose from?? I'm not fussy on where i do the run to. Budget is important however, so is convenience. Ideally a one day run would be great but am prepared for longer if situation calls. Any comments and thoughts are wqelcome. Thanks for your time and I look forward to your responses. Cheers, Clarkey.
October 11, 200916 yr Author Yes! and no matching flights for consecutive days around end of Nov. Firefly is not flying to Penang anymore.Only to Sabang (the old KL airport).
October 11, 200916 yr You can also get the afternoon ferry to Chumphon. Have a night there. get up in the morning and get the first mini bus to Ranong, A very nice drive across the mountains and only around 100km,do your visa run and be back for the afternoon ferry back to KPG.Or get the morning ferry, do your visa and get the morning ferry back to KPG. Easy ! and it saves spending hours in a mini bus driven by a lunatic scared they will miss the last fery back to Samui. Much more relaxed
October 11, 200916 yr Sorry didn't see that the OP had double entry. Yeas Cumphon - Ranong is a nice trip.
October 11, 200916 yr I took the OP to mean he has a double entry tourist visa so he can get 60 days at any point of entry.
October 11, 200916 yr car ferries off Koh Phangan are direct to the mainland and almost never stop running, they are large and can handle the waves quite easily. Boats to Koh Tao do stop running, and to go to Chumphon you have to go through Koh Tao.
October 11, 200916 yr Author OK... am a little confused now. I have a double entry tourist visa. I am of the thought that this allows me 2 entries of 60 days a piece, of which i can extend each of the 60 days for a further 30 at an immigration office within the Kingdom if i want. Am I correct??? Under the headings marked ...... "tourist visa category" it states TR2 with a circle around the 2. "good for"... Two entries. "must be utilised before"... 12 march 2010 "issued on"... 14 sept 2009
