End Of Job - Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi,

Please some advice about non imm B visa.

My job will end soon.

I have a one year visa (not extended) which valid (enter before) Sept/2010.

My 90 days stamp will expire in December 2009.

Can I go to a visa run in December and get another 90 days stamp or not?

It is legal to stay in Thailand after my job finished?

Thanks

As long as you are on multiple-entry Non-B visa (and not on extension of stay issued by Thai immigration) the loss of employment does not cancel your visa or your permission to stay. You can keep on doing 90 day border runs, and by doing a final border hop just before your visa expires you would get a further 90 day permission to stay on re-entry taking stay through to Dec 2010.

I guess your visa is running with a work permit, right? If that's the case, your visa will be automatically cancelled after your work permit is back at the labour dep. Actually you've only got seven days to do something. When you applied for your visa you had to write down the reason why you wanted to have a one year visa. If it's based on work, you'll be illegal after giving back your WP. Good luck !

No. If he has a Visa he can continue until the Visa expires.

If he has an extension of stay he has to leave the country on the days his work ends. Or apply for a 7 day extension from Immigration. 1,900 Baht.

The above post is not correct. A visa 90 day entry has no relationship to work and can be used until the expiration date and a multi entry visa can also be used for new 90 day stays.

Only an extension of stay for work from Immigration is subject to cancellation for loss of job (the day the job ends) - and that is immediate with no 7 days unless you apply for such an extension of stay.
