Work Permit On A Multi Entry Ed Visa

Featured Replies

Hey guys is it possible for me to get a work permit on a ED visa ?? cheers

No. You can't get a WP on a ED-visa. If you want to work and study, you can get a non-B visa and get a WP on that. You can study on any kind of visa.

but is it possible to get a non B befor i come to thailand without having letters from employers and that sort of thing ??

It would depend on where you where applying. Some consulates in Europe will issue a non-O for reason of visiting family or friends. You can get a WP on that as well.

Does any one now if its easy to get a non B in australia ??? my plan is to go over there and look into a business to buy so i might need to get a work permit.

cheers

Apply in Perth, but give them a call first to see which docuemtns you need first. For establishing/buying a business you don't need a WP, as long as you don't actualy work in the business.

As said, a non-O might be easier for you.

Owning a business is not the same as working in a business.

No need to have a WP to own a motorbike, but you would need to live in Thailand and not just be a tourist.

Hi there

is that assured that one can get a WP on an Non Immigrant -O-, holding one, multiple entries, valid one year?

Yes, some employers might think otherwise as in the past you couldn't but many members have a WP on a non-O.

But a work permit is issued on its own merits by a local official so no visa is going to assure you of anything.

:)

Thanx a lot for the immediate reply, glad to hear that. :D

Yes and no.

Yes, if based on anything else than retirement.

The reason for the non-O is normaly not mentioned. Only when you get an extension of stay is the reason for the extension mentioned.

You can set up the business and then apply for WP.

Then you'll have to got to KL and get a single entry non-im B.( You need to bring the WP3, receipt for applying for WP)

Then after you get your WP must go again to KL to get your 1 year non-B.

After two years of audited results you can apply for extension of stay at immigration in Thailand.

wrong, everyone can buy a motorbike on his name, you can even do it on visa exemption, all that is required is the letter from immigration as a guarantee showing your "official" adress to be written in the greenbook.

And I have a WP on a non-ED. :)

Tywais,

Don't tease the animals! :) Yes, I believe you despite the number of "can't be done"ers on here. However, there are many restrictions to qualify, and many restrictions on what, where, and how many hours, you can work with your ED based WP as far as I am aware. That means that 99% of the people on here would not qualify. Please give full details if you know them as it is very cruel to tease! :D

Reason for edit: spotted you are at Uni. Teacher? If so maybe you don't know the exceptions for other ED qualifications/restrictions that apply for apprenticeships, internships, etc. ST.

No, you can't. You will have to get the non-immigration "B" to apply for the work permit.

cheers,

You need a non immigrant visa entry that allows work - it does not have to be a "B" visa.
