Google Chrome

I like Chrome but it crashes each time I use it. Maybe it has problems with Windows 7? It gives the message that it must close. When restarted, it says it did not close properly and gives me the option to restore. It then opens quickly back to where it was when it crashed.

Anyone else having this problem?

what were u doing when it crashes?

which version of chrome are you using?

I "was" using the latest version. In fact it updated within the last couple of days. I thought maybe that would solve the problem but I think it got worse. Fox Fantasy Football crashes it every time but other sites cause it to crash also. It crashes while opening the sites.

Firefox gets glitches after I use it for a few weeks too. A complete uninstall and reinstall fixes it. I'll wait a while and after Chrome comes up with a new version, I'll try it again.

Safari seems to be the most stable browser. IE 8 is also stable but it is just too cumbersome. I was using Opera once in a while but it is now TOO bloated.

I returned to using Chrome several days ago and also using Windows 7 but have not had any crash and using about half the resources of FF. As your problems seem to be specific to specific sites it is probably something to do with there coding/plug in being called up that is not compatible with Chrome.

When a browser crashes I blame it on Flash . Where you checking any sites using flash ?

from what i have been reading...Chrome crashes in win7 is caused usually by extensions/add-ons/Flash

Never had any problems with Firefox 3.5.x and Win7.

I really like Safari, unfortunately it's a resource hog... Hopefully Apple will fix this issue in a future release.

I had an issue with FF and Win 7 which is why I am now back on Chrome. FF was using over 500 megs of ram and unable to open PDF files due to lack of memory. Chrome is behaving much better and much faster loading.

^ Half a gig of RAM is unheard of... Something has definitely gone mad with your FF setup.

I rarely see Firefox use over 200MB. Memory usage is pretty consistent whether running under XP, Vista or Win7. While browsing, I usually have 10-15 tabs open along with a handful of extensions enabled. However, memory usage will increase on graphics or flash intensive pages. As I type this, Firefox memory usage is at 190,628K. That's with two browser windows and 14 tabs open.

Chrome although fast and lightweight is too simplistic; not my cup of tea at the moment. As for Opera, I haven't used it since version 3... I only use Internet Explorer when all else fails.

I have gone back to my Windows XP to allow everything to update. I have been using Windows 7 most of the time. I decided to try Chrome on XP to see if I have any problems. It has been zipping along with no crashes. It appears that Windows 7 is causing the Chrome crashes. ?????????

I am not having Chrome crashes - except will not display TV pages with oversize photos if using enlarged mode - times out and you have to reload page without enlargement - once loaded can be enlarged. This was reported to be a known issue with TV long ago. Other than that have not had any problems and using Windows 7 for several months.

There is a task manager in Chrome you can check what is taking most of the process cycle or memory . www.tech-recipes.com , Google . Waiting for firefox to implement this feature . If you can't find the reason for crash uninstall Chrome and download the lastest version and installing it again . Don't change the OS for a browser. You can install XP in a vitualbox in Windows 7 if all you want to do is test it out , its better than install a new OS .

I was having the same problems but with Firefox, constant crashes, I searched high and low for a solution, tried everything I could find, in the end I started using Chrome, however, Chrome just didn't do it for me so I persevered with FF, I ended up using my windows 7 installation CD to update my OS and once I'd done that I never had any problems again with FF. Try that.

As people have mentioned before, Flash is a culprit for some crashes but I think in this instance it is being unfairly targeted :)

Try disabling your add-ons - especially Flash, if that fails, update your OS.

I had the same problem, however my problem was with FF, again, an update of my OS and not a single crash since then(about a week), not even on the usual websites the browser crashed on, good luck! :)
