Taiwanese drugtrafficking gangsters hired Chiang Mai residents, including a 17yearold student, at Bt500Bt1,000 per head, to open over 50 bank accounts to launder some Bt170 million in drug money, police said yesterday.

Police arrested six Taiwanese and Thai drug suspects along with six kilograms of heroin in a Muang Chiang Mai apartment on August 27. A source at the Narcotics Suppression Police Region 5 said police had found Bt170 million in drug money had been circulated among the 50 bank accounts, but most account holders had no links to the gang but had been kept as witnesses. The money was sent from Taiwan to buy narcotics and to avoid police attention.

Six kg heroin stretched into 10 would be enough to kill lots of people. How much sadness and death did they bring along? Hang those who made the money and didn't care about anything on the highest tree.
