Non "b" To Non "o"

Featured Replies

I currently have a Non "B" visa expiring next month.

I wish to apply for a Non "O".

I am over 50 and do not wish to work again.

what do I need to do?

If you want a visa you go to a Consulate and apply for one. If you want to extend your stay to go to Immigration before your expiration of permission to stay and apply for one.

Extension of stay costs 1,900 baht and requires 800k in Thai account for 2 months or Embassy letter of 65k per month income or a combination of the two to equal 800k per year.

Many thanks for the quick reply.

Certainly don't have the money in Thai bank. I will see if I can get the embassy letter organised in time.

If I have to go the route of the embassy or consulate what would i need to show them?

For single entry your passport showing age over 50 will normally work. For multi entry home country is often best but some will issue with various evidence of your ability to fund your stay - but you need to confirm that with the Consulate you will use - or be flexible and accept single entry if multi can not be issued. In some cases they will only issue single on first request but perhaps be more liberal later.

Again many thanks.

A single entry should suffice as this will give me time to put the finances in place and obtain the embassy letter to obtain the extension

I contacted the consulate in Penang asking them to confirm the documentation required for a single entry "O" visa.

I received a checklist which was identical to that required for an " extension of stay" application out of Bangkok.

As previously stated it will take me a few weeks to collect the documentation required for such an application and my current "B" visa will expire well before that

Try KL. They seem to be much better than Penang currently.
