Time Money Should Be In Bank.

Featured Replies

Hi

Could someone please answer my question.

I am using my monthly pension and money in bank to apply for an extention of stay. (Retirement)

Does the money in the Thai bank have to be deposited for 3 months.

Thanks.

If using a combination of Pension and Savings the money does not have to be in the bank for 3 months.

However the odd Immigration Office may have other ideas. :)

(5) Annual income plus bank account deposit totaling not less

than Baht 800,000 as of the filing date of application

To be clear, since the OP is a first post of a new member, the answer is "yes, the money in the Thai bank has to be deposited for 3 months" if you are using only the B800,000 savings to qualify for a retirement extension.

As Lite Beer pointed out, you can use a combination of savings in a Thai bank + income = B800,000, and then the money does NOT need to be deposited in the Thai bank for three months.

[edited to add, since I forgot it the first time I posted:]

If this is your FIRST retirement extension, the money in the Thai bank only has to be deposited for TWO months. Only for subsequent (i.e. second, third, fourth, etc) extensions does the money need to be in the Thai bank for THREE months.

Not quite right.

For the first application the money has to be in the bank for 2 months if using only 800,000 in the bank.

<sigh...> I was typing my addendum when Lite Beer posted. Sorry for the confusion. How ironic: trying to make it clear, and look what happens.

You were correct apart from the fist application :)

Never mind. Nearly the weekend.
