Best Isp Bangkok

Featured Replies

I'm over in Thailand for 4 months in a months time. I wonder whether anyone could recommend an ISP to use for a good internet ADSL connection/speed. I will have a phone line in my rented condo and need to choose a provider which doesn't have a 12 month minimum contract period. Anyone make any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Ji-net. No contracts are required if you provide your own ADSL modem/router. I've been with the service for over two years. Very limited coverage area though, don't know if this has changed recently. 2048/512 costs 930 baht per month (7% VAT not included).

Note: Over the past 2-3 months the service has 'degraded' somewhat due to the influx of 3BB subscribers on the same network. But despite this, Ji-net is still one of the better ISPs out there IMO.

Thanks for the tip on JI-net.... However I decided to look into this. The download link for the application form on their website is broken.

I decided to call them instead to ask about applying. I called the primary number listed on the website, for signing up, and was greeted by some hold music and a message to please wait. After holding on a few minutes, I just hung up.... not a very promising beginning to an ISP relationship. Is this typical?

This IS Thailand... Yes!!

OK a few things to consider.

1 : Your condo management may only allow certain ISP providers (True, TOT) into the building, so ask them first who is available to you.

2 : Speak to those you live near; they will be only too happy to tell you who they use and whether the service is good or not.

I am in Don Muang and use True; the service is excellent, I get a good 12Mb connection (which is VERY good) and the customer service is great. Costs are comparable to all the others.

I have heard horror stories about TOT that would put me off them for life.

Happy surfing!

No -- not in my experience as a longtime subscriber. Actually, it's very 'untypical' I must add...

The Ji-net call center never had any queues; service representatives actually made call-backs, sometimes 2-3 times a day just to make sure everything is up and running. << No kidding. This is what I call good customer service.

It seems ever since Jasmine (the parent company) got involved with Maxnet or 3BB, everything has gone downhill. When I spoke to customer service last month, they did mention the company is in the process of 're-organization'. This doesn't surprise me, since I did not receive my monthly billing (for August and September 2009) for the first time in 2 years. Not to mention the call center number no longer works. So yes, something changes are definitely going on internally. I just hope they straighten it out real soon. I hate to see a good ISP go to sh*t because of this.

All I can say is, the introduction of 3BB has caused a big mess. Both internet and customer service has been affected by it. Everything was working fine up until very recently. I really wish 3BB take their business elsewhere. We don't need this!
