I have early morning appointment at the US embassy. Do I need my translated US marriage certificate certified by the embassy before registering the marriage at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?

Thanks

Normally you get the translation verified by Ministry of foreign affair (MFA).

Then registered the marriage in the local Amphur.

Don't know how US Citizens do it.

Need some more information. What is it that you are trying to do at the US Embassy? As said, the Thai translation is certified by the MFA and the marriage is registered at the local Amphur.The US Embassy does not certify Thai translations.

If you want to register your marriage that took place outsie of Thailand you will need to have it certified bij the US embassy, next yu have it translated bij a translatyion agency, there are several along wireless road. The certified marriage certifcate and tranltion of it you take to the MFA, where they legalise it and next you can register the marrriage in Thailand.

The US Embassy will not certify a US marriage license (certificate) or most other US origin documents; however, they will issue a marriage affidavit whereby the husband and wife affirm (make an oath) that they are married. This affirmation is then translated into Thai, certified by the Thai MFA, and used for registering the marriage in Thailand.

Thanks everyone! As I understand it now:

*US embassy will issue a marriage affidavit

* Affidavit will need to be translated into Thai

* MFA will then certify the marriage

* Register at local amphur

Thanks again for the help!

The MFA will certify the translated marriage affidavit. When registering your marriage at the amphur suggest you obtain Form Kor Sor 2 (copy of marriage register) at the same time. You could need that later if you were to apply/renew extension of stay at Thai immigration.

Also the translation agencies can have a runner to do the validation at MFA.

Just pay a extra fee.

According to new report you can not get it back the same day ( In my case 4,5 hours ).

You must come next day again.
