I am changing from a Whirlpool, to an LG washing machine the Whirlpool requires the drain stand pipe to be about 80cms off the floor level, the previous Samsungs & LGs I have used here have the drain pipe going into the floor.

Question will the LG work OK using the Whirlpool stand pipe or do I need to make a drain hole in the floor?

Thank You in advance for your kind assistance.

Most likely the whirpool had a pump and needed the pipe up higher to stop the water running out, the LG probably has no pump just a valve to let the water out and needs to drain on to floor level, the instruction manual will tell you exactly what is required if you read it, sorry you have not listed models so can not help further.

Gary, thanks for reply I was thinking along those lines the LG is an LG WF 9022TD 9.5kgs. The Whirlpool is a WTT - 22 and for information is made in Brazil, The Brazilian website says capacity 5-6 kilos dry linen the sticker on the back say 8.5kilos of dry linen but it sure looks pretty small for 8.5kgs.

By the way just awaiting delivery so haven't got a manual yet just anticipating whether to get the guy up to make new drain hole..

Can't find a listing of that model on there web site but 99% sure it will be like most the others sold in Thailand and will need a floor drain. Don't know why they do it that way as water on the floor creates a hazard, would be better if you can make a drain for the water to in rather than on the floor.

I've got an LG it comes with its own plastic stand to make it higher off the floor and the pipe is at the bottom at the back and drains into the floor through gravity (this i am guessing)

The previous lg i had to stand on bricks because my old condo plumbers! :) qualified to NVQ and Corgi of course never cut the blue plastic pipe down and the outlet pipe went up then down into the pipe..so i had to raise the LG to be above the blue pipe..

reason for the last sentence was to reinforce that my experience with LG's is they are bottom outlets using gravity to drain...
