I've just got back from Immigration for my non O visa extension.

everything appeared to go well . wasn't expecting the new requirement (to me atleast) of a family photo but luckily had the family with me.

paper work seems in order , over to the big boss's desk for a once over . Oh no she's managed to find something wrong as usual. My original marriage certificate, the document in english hasn't been certified so how does she know its real ? although they have a certified translation of it ofcourse which worked last time. And I do have bags under my eyes from 13 years of marriage and 3 kids in tow. She explains to the wife the problem as she sees it.

Unless we get the document certified in the next couple of days by an embassy or consulate she's going to reject the application.

Seems a bit harsh. OK off to chaing Mai again on monday. Seems see'll accept a photocopy of the original marriage certificate with a Embassy or consulate official stamp. Is this correct ? Anyone else have such a stamp.

Want to make sure its clear as mud whats she's after.

I don't want to give wrong info here but could there be a misunderstanding?

Did you register your marriage somewhere here in Thailand?

This appears to be a requirement since early this year if you got married abroad and you'll need a copy of the marriage register from the place where you did the registration in Thailand.

Note: this is only my understanding, so please wait for the experts to give more advise.

Yeah I'm registered married with the Amphur and everything. Have been for years. I'm really really married no getting away from that fact and the immigration lady knows it. :D

But Rules is Rules or new rules is new rules or send the farang on a wild goose chase. :)

Did you get married here in Thailand or was it a foreign marriage that you registered at the District Office? If married here they now require a copy of the ledger entry of that marriage as well as the certificate. Kor Ror 2 and 3 I believe but not sure which is witch.

If a foreign marriage there is Embassy involvement and that must be registered with MFA but is required to be in Thai as District Office does not deal in English. But believe it is supposed to be stamped by Embassy prior to translation/MFA registration. Suspect what you will need to do is sign a copy and have the Consulate notarize your signature; perhaps with a short statement that you certify it as a true copy.

Thanks Lopburi3. Married in England but all the paperwork dealt with years ago. I'm sure Its all registered with MFA already can't really remember. Anyway They always accepted the certified translation before. I'm on my third extention. Having the Consulate notarize sounds expensive :)

Hopefully they can just stamp it for a small fee. and Pigs do occasionally Fly :D

I am not sure I understand. Do you mean howmuch money/property every party brings into the marriage? Is there a thread about information and what certificates are needed to marry a Thai woman in LoS? I checked the search but to many threads to read through. Also worrying about wrong posted information of users which could cost me.

Thanks

This thread is about extension of stay not about getting married. The documents I mentioned are now required for the immigration file of those who married in Thailand. The normal copy of certificate of marriage plus a new requirement for a copy of the second document. It is not something you provide the office but something they type up and helps immigration prove to themselves that the marriage certificate is real. People getting married now do get a copy from the office but those married years ago did not so may have to visit office to obtain.
