New Address In Thai

Featured Replies

Our district office re-assigned new simplified address to all homes in the district.

In the past it was like this (numbers are fictitious but format correct):

123 Moo 1. Road name 54, District name, BKK 10140

The 54 is the number of the soi.

now it is:

12, Soi: Road name 54 แยก 6, District name, BKK 10140

My question is about the "แยก" . the 6 is our sub soi, it means 'branch off' but how would I write it in English?

Would for example "Road name 54/6" be acceptable? If not how should I write it?

Crossroad or junction.

54 - 6 is what i typically see in Bangkok where the word แยก isn't used. Of course you could just write yaek.

sub-soi

or transliterate to give you "yaek"

Thanks for all the replies.

I think that if I use something like "yaek" or "junction" the postman may try to look for a soi by that name.

So I guess something like 54/6 or 54-6 would be clear to even the most illiterate postman (we have quite a few of them here!)
